Environmental Responsibility
The Ferrero Group has expressed its commitment to environmentally safe practices around the world and is committed to educating employees and suppliers of its environmental principles. This can be found in the Social Responsibility tab of www.ferrero.com.
In Australia, the Ferrero Commercial and Manufacturing companies have followed the Group direction by implementing an Environmental Management System certified to the International Standard ISO14001:2004
The Managing Directors in Australia have committed to a policy that states:"The protection of human health and the respect for the environment are at the core of our way of operating; we manage our production facilities with a sustainable use of water resources, of raw and other materials, and of energy, including the use of renewable resources; we pursue a reduction of the environmental impact in all its forms, in particular by reducing emissions, eliminating all wastes and correctly managing waste products. We are committed to setting objectives and targets in a process of continual improvement."
We are committing to use our resources such as power and water more efficiently and trying to reduce the impacts of pollution by increasing the re-use or recycling of our waste, and reducing our emissions. Our environmental system is based on a continual review of all our business operations and is designed to ensure we comply with legal and other environmental requirements in Australia.
In Australia, we were signatories to the following environmental initiatives:
- The recently completed National Packaging Covenant where we set, reviewed and met our objectives for the reduction, reuse and recycling of packaging materials. www.packagingcovenant.org.au Ferrero has expressed its commitment to the new Australian Packaging Covenant which will take effect in 2011.
- CitySwitch Green Office which is a national tenant energy efficiency program run in partnership between cities of Sydney, North Sydney, Parramatta, Willoughby, Canberra, Brisbane, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth along with state government agencies, the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change & Water Sustainability Victoria. www.cityswitch.net.au
- Are a Bronze certified member of the Sustainability Advantage program administered by the NSW Department of Environment, Climate Change & Water.
